Focuses on Enhanced Engagement with Alumni & Innovative Education Initiatives

Bhubaneswar, August 25 : The 42nd Executive Council Meeting of the ‘Mo School’ was convened, marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of fostering a stronger connection between the institution and its alumni. The meeting deliberated upon an array of initiatives designed to strengthen the bonds between the school and its former students. Several progressive strategies were outlined, including the organization of block-level alumni associations’ conferences, integrating alumni into aspirational courses, facilitating collaboration with external entities, and fostering excellence in education.

Presiding over the meeting, Mrs. Ashwathy S.,commissioner-cum-Secretary of School and Mass Education Department, highlighted the pivotal role alumni play in the holistic development of the institution. Recognizing the collective effort required to elevate the standards of education, she emphasized the importance of not only financial support but also active engagement in academic and extracurricular programmes.

The meeting witnessed the introduction of innovative programs aimed at enhancing the relationship between the school and it’s alumni. Block-level alumni conferences are set to take place from 8th September to 14th November across all 198 blocks within the state, bringing together committee presidents and representatives to facilitate discussions on school improvement. This platform will foster the exchange of developmental insights between committee presidents and representatives.

In an effort to recognize outstanding contributions, an awareness programme related to the “Mukhyamantri Shikhya Puraskar” is scheduled for 8th September, involving school management committees, parents, alumni and public representatives. This event will delve into the awards at various levels and the criteria for accolades. The event also serves as an opportunity to showcase exemplary work by alumni committees and their plans for securing the prestigious award.

‘School Adoption programme’ spanning for a week in September 2023, will facilitate meetings between school mentors, alumni and other stakeholders to assess the school’s progress and identify areas for improvement. Exciting collaborations were also announced, further underscoring the commitment to educational excellence. ‘Mo School’ will join hands with the Nandankanan Zoological park to launch the ‘Student Zoo Ambassador programme’, which will focus on biodiversity education through the aspirational club.The programme will include 40 schools from Cuttack and Khurda districts around Nandankanan, where students will be taught about biodiversity.

Furthermore, a collaborative agreement with Khan Academy is agreed to promote mathematics and science education across all odia medium schools.Underlining the collective dedication toward educational growth, over 10,998 alumni and CSR organizations have contributed more than 12 crore rupees this month for school development. This generous support has facilitated the approval of 5,857 project proposals amounting to over 36 crore rupees, including 2X matching grant from ‘Mo School’.

The meeting was attended by distinguished personalities including Mr. Anupam Saha, OSEPA State Project Director, CEO, Mo School , OSD, Mo School , Senior officials of Department and various members of the council.
