Cuttack: At several locations in Odisha as well as in India and abroad, National Daughters Day of India (Nandini Diwas) was marked. Nandini and Diwas are two Sanskrit words which mean Daughter and Day respectively. 9th of June in year 2007 was marked in respect for Legendary Smt. Nandini Satpathy, her birth anniversary.

This day celebrates every daughter of India. General public as well as several who’s who marked the day by greeting the daughters of India and by paying their homage to legendary Smt. Nandini Satpathy.

Smt. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust – SNSMT Chairman Shri. Suparno Satpathy said “Should Odisha albeit India wish to be truly progressive, it is imperative to follow the school of thought of Smt. Nandini Satpathy (Ma for your’s truly) and not just remember her on National Daughters day”. He wished all the very best for every daughter of India.

Status of Smt. Nandini Satpathy were garlanded and remembrance meets with silent meditation were held at many locations. Several devotees connected with Sri. Aurobindo Ashram and several associates of Netaji movement paid their respects. Noted authors, Govt officials, politicians, police personnel, defence personnel, cinema stars, artists, many associated with NCC and several others paid their homage to the great soul.
