Aditya Aluminium observes World Breast feeding Week-2020

Bhubaneswar(Kalinga Voice) : Aditya Birla Group’s Hindalco company at it’s Aditya Aluminium, Lapanga unit has observed the World Breast Feeding Week to create awareness on the importance and benefits of breastfeeding at 3 Gram Panchayat ( Jangala, Bomoloi and Ghichamora) of Rengali Block recently. As a part of its CSR initiative, the company conducted this event. The awareness sessions reiterated the importance of breastfeeding for both mother and child and it’s crucial role in nutrition. Exclusive breastfeeding is a cornerstone of child survival and child health because it provides essential, irreplaceable nutrition for a child’s growth and development. It serves as a child’s first immunization – providing protection from respiratory infections, diarrhea disease, and other potentially life-threatening ailments. Exclusive breastfeeding also has a protective effect against obesity and certain non-communicable diseases later in life.  A video was played to create awareness among pregnant women and lactating mothers on the benefits of breastfeeding.

The Speakers emphasized upon the significance of breastfeeding as breast milk contain right proportion of nutrients for infant babies. Breast milk provides antibodies to fight off viruses and bacteria. It reduces the risk of disease, and prompts a healthy weight gain and helps to prevent childhood obesity, avoids breast cancer, helps prevent pregnancy and many more. Women also participated in the discussion on how Government schemes like MAMTA and Janani Suraksha Yojana help them in safe motherhood and also the critical role played by ASHA, ANM, AWW in facilitating these schemes and creating awareness.

The Resource persons in 3 day programme were Angawadi didi Sunanda Kalo of Bhursipalli, Bijli Bhoi of Chandmal, Swapna Besan of RR Pondoloi, Jyostnarani Bijar of Ghichamora, Sanjulta Nagria of Gourdih, Pushpanjali of Jhakarpada, Manjari Padhan of Bomoloi, Tikeswari Kissan of Phulchanger, Geeta Chhatriya of Bomoloi B and ASHA didi Pramila Meher of Jangala, Buduni Kissan of Ghichamora, Mukta Meher of Bomoloi, Prema Kissan of Maliatikra and Dr. Debasmita from Aditya Aluminium. The guests were Shri Satyanarayan Agarwal Samiti Sabhya Ghichamora and Vice Chairman Rengali Block, Mrs. Anupurna Sahu Sarpanch Ghichamora, Shekhar Kissan Naib Sarpanch, Lalit Kumar Sahu Opinion Maker,Jagdish Sahu Ward Member Ghichamora.  Mrs. Sweta Upadhayay Head CSR & RR and Mr. Manoranjan Behera Asst Manager CSR & RR represented Aditya CSR. CSR team facilitated the program.
