Bhubaneswar/Kalinga Voice : At Sambalpur’s Lapanga village, Hindalco’s Aditya Aluminium, backed by the Governmentare helping people to become self-reliant through the Project “Swabalmb”. The aim of this project is to hone the skills of the rural youngsters through training them in vocational skills. The end goal is to make them employable. Since its commencement in Oct 2020 through the PPP mode, over 270 youngsters have been trained. These include vocational skills like Ophthalmologist Paramedical services, tailoring, beautician, motor binding, driving etc. which are skills in demand. Furthermore, Aditya Aluminium endeavors to facilitate their placements.
Among the trainees, two beneficiaries Sevati (19) & Rajashree (18) of Lapanga village have seen a major transformation in their lives. Their zest for work is amazing. They were trained in ophthalmologist paramedical services, placed in Trilochan Netralaya and today take home Rs 10000/- every month. Their family now lives a life of dignity.
Lauding the initiative, Mr Subrat Roy, the Director of SBI Regional Self Employment Training Institute says that, this is a praiseworthy initiative on the part of Aditya Aluminium to come forward to partner with us in imparting training and counselling the rural youth in making them self-sufficient.
Mr Kailash Pandey, Unit Head of Aditya Aluminium who fully backs the project, says, “This project is crucial to develop confidence amongst the youth through according them training in different skill building domains and enabling them to earn and look after themselves and their families. Partnering with the Govt. is aboon.We are much encouraged by our iconic Chairperson, Mrs. Rajashree Birla, Chairperson, Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, who believes that we must Engage, Uplift and Empower our women”.
SmtRajashreeji Birla believes that, “It is our responsibility to have the young realise their potential and engage them productively. Vocational training is one of our key areas, given its manifold impact which extends beyond the family to the nation as well”.
Dr. Vivekanand Misra, HR Head of Aditya Aluminium says, that our company will accelerate this process of skill development of youth through vocational courses, and ensure the self-sufficiency of the youth of the region.
