Bhubaneswar: Noted socio-political leader and Chairman of SNSMT Shri. Suparno Satpathy terms Agnipath scheme to be interesting. He has urged Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to further fine tune this scheme and to bring ease in its entry process. To this reporter he said “ Should this scheme be tweaked a bit and if it is governed well, this could do wonders for India”.
Throughout the country there have been widespread violence during several protested this scheme. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has urged upon PM Narendra Modi to withdraw this scheme. Many defence veterans have expressed their protest and many have expressed their support.
In the midst there has been a tweak already brought in the scheme, now the entry age limit into this scheme has been increased to 23 from 21. Anyone in the 17 to 23 years age bracket could opt to become an Agniveer in the Indian Army, Navy or Airforce under the Agnipath Scheme.
