Paradeep, December 29, 2025: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), as part of its flagship CSR initiative – ‘SAFAL’ (Sustainable Agriculture for Alternative Livelihood), celebrated National Farmers Day at Nuagarh Panchayat office in Balidia, Paradeep, and organised a Healthy Calf Rally at Balidia village in Kujung Block, Jagatsinghpur district. Both programmes reflected the collaborative spirit of SAFAL, reinforcing AM/NS India’s strong commitment to sustainable agriculture, livestock development, livelihood enhancement, and inclusive rural development.
The National Farmers Day celebration brought together more than 200 farmers, dignitaries, and community stakeholders. The programme was graced by Shri Debendra Rout, Sarpanch, Nuagarh, Ms. Arpita Mishra, Assistant Horticulture Officer, Smt. Tulsi Mahanna, Block Technology Manager, Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Shri Rabindra Pradhan, Farm Manager, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Jagatsinghpur, and Shri Sanjaya Behera, Senior Advocate, along with officials from AM/NS India and staff members of the Bharatiya Agro Industries Foundation (BAIF). Experts sensitized participants on various Central and State Government schemes related to agriculture and horticulture, shared insights on modern farming techniques, and highlighted sustainable practices to support alternative livelihoods. Progressive farmers who adopted innovative practices were felicitated, while outstanding farmers were recognized through awards across multiple categories.
Meanwhile, the Healthy Calf Rally focused on promoting good livestock management practices as part of the SAFAL initiative. The event was graced by Shri Jayprakash, Veterinary Officer, Kujung Block, Shri Debendra Rout, Sarpanch, Nuagarh, along with officials from AM/NS India and BAIF. Featuring 50 healthy calves and enthusiastic participation from over 40 project beneficiaries, the rally included evaluation of calves based on defined health and growth parameters. Participation certificates were awarded to all calf owners, while prizes were presented for the best-performing calves. Outstanding farmers whose calves demonstrated superior health and management practices were specially rewarded, encouraging peer learning, motivation, and knowledge sharing.
Collectively, these programmes showcased the holistic approach of the SAFAL initiative, integrating sustainable agriculture with livestock development to strengthen rural livelihoods. By empowering farmers and promoting excellence in both crop and livestock practices, AM/NS India continues to drive community-based development, environmental sustainability, and farmer empowerment in Paradeep.
