AM/NS India observes National Pollution Prevention Day across Odisha locations

Bhubaneswar, December 08, 2025: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) observed National Pollution Prevention Day at its Paradeep and Dabuna Plant with awareness sessions and plantation programmes, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
At Paradeep Pellet Plant, the programme was graced by Shri Puskar Chandra Behera, Regional Officer, State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Paradeep as the Chief Guest, along with Shri Dibyalochan Mohapatra, Environment Engineer, SPCB, Paradeep, and officials of AM/NS India including Shri C.H. Hariprasad, Plant Head, Paradeep Pellet Plant, SPL, AM/NS Ports, Shri Rajarshi Sinha, Head–Captive Power Plant, Paradeep, Shri Suvendu Kumar Dash, Head–Environment, Odisha, Shri Debadatta Das, Manager–Environment, Paradeep Pellet Plant. Over 100 employees and partners also joined on the occasion.
On the occasion, Shri Puskar Chandra Behera, emphasized the importance of pollution prevention as a responsibility to safeguard future generations. Shri Dibyalochan Mohapatra had some thoughtful reflections on the significance of the day’s observance. Shri C.H. Hariprasad highlighted the adoption of advanced technologies by AM/NS India to reduce its pollution footprint while Shri Rajashri Sinha outlined key initiatives undertaken at the power plant to minimize emissions. Shri Suvendu Kumar Dash, reflected on the lessons from the Bhopal Gas Tragedy and stressed the urgency of reducing pollution to protect human civilization. The event culminated in a plantation drive within the plant premises, where dignitaries and employees participated enthusiastically, symbolizing collective responsibility towards a greener future.
An awareness session was also conducted at the Dabuna Beneficiation Plant with a focus on sustainability and workplace excellence. During the program, employees and associates were recognized for their commendable efforts in reducing waste generation, conserving water and electricity, implementing measures to control air and water pollution, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping across work areas. The session also emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable practices to ensure long-term environmental responsibility with active participation of employees and associates.
National Pollution Prevention Day commemorates the victims of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy of 1984. It is a day dedicated to raising awareness about pollution control, promoting sustainable practices, and encouraging industries and individuals alike to adopt measures that protect the environment. Through such initiatives, AM/NS India continues to reinforce its dedication to reduce pollution and build a sustainable society.
