Mumbai, June 04, 2023: Bank of Baroda(Bank), one of India’s leading public sector banks, today announced the list of 6Novels, shortlisted for thefirst edition of the‘Bank of Baroda Rashtrabhasha Samman’Award2023.
The five-member awards jury chaired by renowned author and International Booker Prize winner Ms. Geetanjali Shree along with the other four jury members Mr. Arun Kamal, an Indian poet; Mr. Pushpesh Pant, an academic and food critic; Ms. Anamika, a contemporary Indian poet and novelist; and Mr. Prabhat Ranjan, a Hindi fiction writer and translator met on 1st June and selected the 6 books enumerated below in alphabetical order for the ‘Bank of Baroda Rashtrabhasha Samman’Award 2023:

‘Bank of Baroda Rashtrabhasha Samman’has been established by the bank to recognize and celebrate original Indian language literature and the translations of these works. This initiative offers a national platform to talented Indian writers from different parts of the country and will give a boost to Indian language literature as well as encourage literary translations.
The ‘Bank of Baroda Rashtrabhasha Samman’Award will be presented to both the author of the original work and the translator of the book in to Hindi.The author of the original work and the respective Hindi translator of the award-winning book will receive Rs. 21.00 lakh and Rs. 15.00 lakh respectively. Moreover, the authors and the Hindi translators of the next five shortlisted books will receive Rs. 3.00 lakh and Rs.
2.00 lakh each respectively. The winner of the ‘Bank of Baroda Rashtrabhasha Samman’ Award will be announced on 11thJune 2023 in Delhi.
