Bhubaneswar/Brahmapur (Kalinga Voice) : East Coast Railway General Manager Shri Vidya Bhushan inspected Brahmapur Railway Station today and took stock of the various passenger amenities and facilities required to be developed as part of the Station Redevelopment plan.
Addressing the Media, General Manager Shri Vidya Bhushan said that, Brahmapur Railway Station will be developed and will be provided with modern facilities. The station will be developed with aesthetic lighting, improved signage, and improved passenger amenities including waiting hall. More amenities will be provided to the travelling public. Apart from this, Circulating area will also be developed and will be beautified.
Replying to a question on running of trains, General Manager stated that due to Coved protocols all regular trains have been cancelled and special trains are now running to facilitate passengers on their emergency ground. ECoR is in constant touch with State Govt on this matter. Keeping in view the situation during Covid pandemic and as per the advice of State Govt, more trains will be run.
To another query regarding, Berhampur- Phulbani line, the General Manager replied that the rate of return of the project would be estimated by the survey committee. Based on it, the decision would be taken. To a query on provision of a terminal point at Berhampur, the General Manager clarified that it is not feasible in the current scenario. To another question, he replied that Lifts and Escalators have been provided at Station to facilitate senior citizens, Divyangjans and patients. Depending on the situation, Lifts & Escalators are functioning. Facilities like Toilets, Water provision has been added in the facility.
On question about extension of Platform, General Manager informed that Railway team is in work to extend the platform to accommodate full length train. This problem will be solved at the earliest. Shri Vidya Bhushan has also informed that, Migrant Rest Shed and improvement of Circulating area will be provided and work for this is going on.
Ministry of Railways has granted approval for undertaking pre-investment activities for Brahampur – Sambalpur new Railway line which will be constructed by Odisha Rail Infrastructure Development Limited (ORIDL). Similarly, 79 km long Gunupur-Theruvali project has also been sanctioned. Survey report for 223 Kms long Berhampur-Rayagada New Line has been completed and has been complied.
