New Delhi: Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Mohan Charan Majhi along with Hon’ble MP Jajpur Dr. R. N. Behera met Shri H. D.Kumaraswamy, Hon’ble Union Minister of Steel &Heavy Industries at his New Delhi residence yesterday. During the meeting various issues such as development of Steel Industries in Odisha, expansion of Rourkela Steel Plant and generation of employment were discussed at length.
Especially, the relocation of Biju Patnaik National Steel Institute from Kalinga Nagar, Jajpur to RSP Rourkela was elaborately discussed and the Chief Minister requested to stop the decision of shifting Biju Patnaik National Steel Institute, (BPNSI) from Kalinga Nagar, Jajpur to RSP Rourkelaand to take decision to make it a‘Centre of Excellence’.Also, the Chief Minister assured to extend all sorts of support andcooperation on behalf of Govt. of Odisha towardsconstruction of permanent infrastructure at Kalinga Nagar and to provide temporary campus till construction of permanent campus is completed.
After listening carefully, the Chief Minister’s concern and examining the matter, the Union Steel Minister Shree H. D Kumarswamy instructed concerned officials of Union Steel Ministry to revoke the decision of shiftingBiju Patnaik National Steel Institute from Kalinga Nagar, Jaipur. It is pertinent to mention that the Chief Minister of Odisha had written a letter to Union Minister Steel & Heavy Industries for stopping the shifting Biju Patnaik National Steel Institute, (BPNSI) from Kalinga Nagar, much earlier to this meeting. In this meeting on behalf of Union Ministry of Steel, the Joint Secretary & Chairman, (BPNSI) was present along with other officials.
