Cyclothon conducted by Apollo Hospital on the occasion of national bone and joint day

Bhubaneawar, 4th August 2023: The national bone and joint day is being celebrated on 4th August every year. On this occasion many activities are conducted on the first week of August as Bone and Joint week to create awareness among citizens regarding the road traffic accident safety and basic life support training at accident site. Basic life support training is imparted to different groups like nurses, ambulance drivers, students in schools and colleges, citizen forums etc. This year the theme is “Each one train one and save one” and the mission is to save road traffic accident victims.
On this day, a cyclothon was conducted at the Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar by the Odisha Orthopaedic Association (State chapter of the Indian Orthopaedic Association) to spread awareness among public regarding road traffic safety and better bone and joint health. The program was coordinated by Dr Debabrata Padhy, Senior Consultant, Orthopaedics, Apollo Hospitals. Shri Sidhant Mohapatra, Ex MP and an accomplished cyclistwas the chief guest and Dr Alok Srivastava, COO and DMS, Apollo Hospitals chaired the session.

It was attended by eminent orthopaedic surgeons of the state like Dr Basant Ku Behera, Secretary Odisha Orthopaedic Association, Dr RK Mohapatra, Dr KR Mohapatra, Dr PC Dey, Dr AK Sahoo. Dr Debabrata Padhy introduced the guests and highlighted on the significance of the national bone and joint day and importance of the cyclothon to create awareness among citizens to save lives. Shri Sidhant Mohapatra emphasized on the bone and joint health of all and prevention of road traffic accidents. Dr Alok Srivastava highlighted on the conduction of similar events with different organisations to make people aware of traffic rules, prevent accidents and train them in basic life support. Eminent Orthopaedic surgeons also spoke on the occasion. 40 cyclists all orthopaedic doctors participated in the event and the message of prevention of road accidents and imparting training for basic life support was wide in the society
