Baripada, Dated: 12-10-2025: Today, under the auspices of the District Health Committee, the district-level Pulse Polio drops administration program was organized at the Urban Primary Health Centre, Debendrapur. The program was inaugurated by the District Collector Shri Hemkant Say, who graced the occasion as the chief guest.
On this occasion, the District Collector stated that the three-day Pulse Polio drops administration drive will continue in the district from today till October 14, targeting all children aged 0 to 5 years. The polio drops are being administered across 1,170 centers in the district, including the District Headquarters Hospital, all Sub-Divisional Hospitals, every Primary Health Centre, Community Health Centre, Arogya Mandir, Anganwadi Centers, and other health service centers.
A total of 2,12,199 children are targeted to receive the drops in this campaign, and 2,50,000 doses of the vaccine have been made available for the purpose. After the initial administration at the centers today, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, ANMs, and other health personnel will go door-to-door tomorrow to identify and administer the drops to children who might have been missed.
In addition, efforts will be made to identify and vaccinate children aged 0–5 years at crowded public places such as bus stands, railway stations, and marketplaces. To ensure that no child in this age group is left out from receiving the drops, 2,340 teams have been formed, and 76 ILR (Ice Lined Refrigerator) points have been arranged for proper vaccine storage and management.
The public is advised to contact their local ASHA workers, ANMs, or Anganwadi workers for more details regarding the campaign.
The District Collector also appealed to the general public to bring their own children, as well as the children of relatives and friends aged 0 to 5 years, to the nearby booths to ensure they receive the polio drops.
This program is being organized under the supervision of the Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer, Dr. Kishore Kumar Acharya.
