EAST COAST RAILWAY LOADED 16.16 MT OF FREIGHT IN SEPTEMBER, 2020

  • About 8114 wagons per day utilized forfreight traffic in September 2020 instead of 7351 wagons in September 2019. 

Bhubaneswar (Kalinga Voice): On mission mode, Indian Railways achieved asignificant milestone of loading more freight traffic. Indian Railways freight loading for the month of September 2020 surpasses last year’s loading for the same month. In a remarkable performance, Indian Railways has loaded 102.12million tones of freight in September 2020, which is 13.59 million tonnes higher than the last year’s freight loading for the same month (88.53 million tonnes). The increase in freight loading is 15.35%.   East Coast Railway has contributed a major share in highest ever loading of 102.12 MT by Indian Railways. In September 2020; East Coast Railway has 16.16 million tonnes of freight which is 1.58 MTmore than September, 2019 by increasing a growth of 10.9%. In September, 2019,East Coast Railway had carried 14.58 MT of freight. This has achieved despite lockdown and closure & less workforce in industries and in mineral units under East Coast Railway jurisdiction. 

 To get this remarkable performance, East CoastRailway has utilized 8114 wagons per day in September, 2020 only which is 763more wagons per day during the month with a growth of 10.4% more. In September,2019; ECoR had utilized 7351 wagons per day.  

 Guided by the able leadership of General ManagerEast Coast Railway Sh Vidya Bhusan, there has been continuous review of freightperformance through the Business Development Units, integrating innovativepolicy making with stability and certainty in the logistics sector, attractingnew avenues for modal transit from rail to road.  

East Coast Railway also gives credit for thisachievement to its hardworking and dedicated staff in all its three divisions.Special mention to be made regarding the efforts and cooperation from allstakeholders including collieries, ports, steel plants, cement, Alumina plants,petroleum companies and Food Corporation of India, etc.
