Bhubaneswar: Blending spirituality with contemporary creativity, the three-day national travelling art exhibition Ekaa – The One concluded on a vibrant note at the Buddha Art Gallery, Bhubaneswar captivating artists, historians, scholars and art lovers alike. Conceptualised by artist and social entrepreneur Dr. Beena Unnikrishnan, the exhibition emerged as a powerful celebration of India’s cultural roots through a modern artistic lens, leaving visitors deeply inspired. The exhibition created an immersive experience for visitors, who not only explored the intricate series of 64 paintings but also engaged with the thought-provoking documentary Y64: Whispers of the Unseen.
Drawing from the profound spiritual legacy of the Hirapur Chausathi Yogini Temple, the exhibition offered a striking contemporary interpretation of the 64 Yoginis, divine embodiments of Shakti symbolising wisdom, courage, intuition and transformation. What made the showcase truly exceptional was the presentation of the first-ever complete contemporary series of all 64 Yoginis by a single artist, marking a significant milestone in India’s evolving art landscape.
Echoing this vision, Dr. Beena Unnikrishnan shared that Ekaa- The One is part of the ambitious “64 Yogini Trail,” a journey spanning over 10,000 kilometres across 16 states, aimed at reviving and reinterpreting India’s sacred feminine traditions for modern audiences. With its successful Bhubaneswar chapter receiving widespread acclaim, the exhibition continues its national journey, fostering dialogue, inclusivity and a deeper appreciation of India’s timeless cultural legacy.
