Bhubaneswar/ Rayagada (Kalinga Voice) : One Financial Consultant is convicted by the Court of Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar in a vigilance trap case and sent to jail custody to serve his sentence.
Today i.e. on 02.01.2024, the convict Sri Laxminarayan Satapathy, Financial Consultant, office of DPC, SSA, Rayagada appeared before the Court of Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar and the Hon’ble Court sentenced Sri Satapathy to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and 3 years U/s 7 and 13(2) PC Act, 1988 respectively and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/- on each count, and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 months. Both the sentences are to run concurrently. Further, the convict Sri Laxminarayan Satapathy was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence.
Sri Laxminarayan Satapathy, Financial Consultant(FC) and Sri Jayanarayan Trailokya Nath, Planning Coordinator (Disengaged from Service) both of office of District Project Co-ordinator (DPC), Sarba Sikhya Abhijan (SSA), Rayagada, who were charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar TR No 49/2013 U/s 13(2)r/w13 (1)(d)/7/11/PC Act, 1988/120(B) IPC for demand and acceptance of bribe Rs.10,000/- from a Complainant for issue of cheques against two numbers of bills submitted by complt. after execution of the work and for his EMD amount and TDS, were convicted by Hon’ble Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar on 02.12.2023. On the date of judgment i.e. on 02.12.2023, one of the convicts Sri Laxminarayan Satapathy was absent on call for which NBW/A was issued for his production.
Smt. Anupama Mohapatra, Ex-Inspector Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division, A/P-DSP, Special Cell, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar had investigated the case and Sri Hemanta Kumar Swain, Spl. PP, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
