Bargarh/Kandhmal (Kalinga Voice) : On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, simultaneous house searches have been launched on the properties of Shri Sushanta Dash, Forester, Jharbandh Forest Section under Padampur Forest Range, Dist-Bargarh at 2 places in Bargarh district today i.e. on 17.08.2021 by 2 teams of Sambalpur Vigilance Division comprising 2 DSsP, 3 Inspectors and other staff.
1 double storeyed building and 2 plots at Padampur, Dist-Bargarh, 1 four wheeler, 2 nos of two wheelers, Bank deposits over Rs.12.5 lakh, Insurance deposits over Rs.8.76 lakh, cash of Rs.54,810/- and other movable and immovable properties, all totaling to over Rs 85 lakh have been unearthed during the house search till now. Further searches are continuing.
In one more Vigilance Operation today, Shri Titas Naik, Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO), Saramani GP under Daringbadi Block, Dist Kandhamal has been apprehended by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from a complainant for furnishing eligibility report in his favour in order to get house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 17.08.2021 wherein the accused Shri Titas Naik, PEO was caught by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division at Daringbadi GP office premises while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from complainant. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Shri Naik, PEO and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Shri Naik gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on his office room at Daringbadi, residential rented house at Brahmanigaon and house at native village Budamaha, Dist-Kandhamal. Shri Titas Naik, PEO has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court. In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.13 dated 16.08.2021 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
