New Delhi (Agency) : Former India batsman and veteran cricket administrator Chetan Chouhan passed on Sunday due to Covid-19 complications. He was 73 years old. The news of his death has been confirmed by his brother Pushpendra Chouhan. Former Indian opener Sri Chouhan was tested positive for Covid-19 in July. He could not be saved from this deadly infection. His kidneys were affected and caused blood pressure problems. After tested positive, he was first admitted in Sanjay Gandhi PG Hospital in Lucknow. latter he was shifted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. His condition worsened on Friday night and he was placed with life support.
Sri Chouhan was twice elected to the Lok Sabha from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh in 1991 and 1998 and was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1981. In his 12-year cricket career, Sri Chouhan played 40 Tests and scored 2084 runs with 16 fifties. And two wickets. Together with Sunil Gavaskar, Chouhan formed a strong opening partnership for India, scoring more than 3,000 runs partnership.
