The Odisha High Court today stayed a public hearing for the expansion of the Vedanta , which was scheduled to be held on March 30. Sundergarh BJP legislator Kusum Tete and BJP state Secretary Tankadhar Tripathi have been able to get the stay order from the court.
Hering the petition of the petitioner, Justice KR Mohapatra, in his order stated that in an advertisement issued by the Odisha State Pollution Control Board on 27.09.2010, stated to hold a public hearing at 11 a.m. on 30.09.2010 at Dalki Kurebaga government UP school. The said public hearing shall not be held till the next date .
Commenting on the issue, MLA Tete said she had written to the Chief Secretary and the Chairman of the Odisha State Environmental Control Board, the Member Secretary of the Board, the Principal Secretary of the Department of Home, Forests, and Environment for the cancellation of the public hearing during the CORONA epidemic. But due to delay in taking the decision to stop that public hearing, we were forced to go to court, said Ms. Tete and Mr. Tripathi
