IIIT-Bhubaneswar Emerges as Forerunner in Cryptography Studies

Bhubaneswar: The International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bhubaneswar inaugurated the 3-Day National Workshop and Short-Term Training Program on Cryptology under the ISEA (Information Security Education and Awareness) Project, Phase III, an initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.

The ISEA Project, which aims to develop human resources in the critical field of information security and raise public awareness about cyber hygiene and security, has been instrumental in strengthening India’s cybersecurity framework. Implemented through a network of academic institutions and organizations, IIIT Bhubaneswar is playing a significant part in this vital initiative, contributing to the nation’s cybersecurity efforts.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by distinguished guests and experts in the field of cryptography. Dr. Debasish Jena, Principal Investigator of ISEA Phase III, welcomed the gathering and delivered an insightful address about the inception of the ISEA Project, its objectives, and its growing significance in the field of cybersecurity. He emphasized the program’s role in nurturing talent and creating a robust workforce to combat the evolving challenges in the digital domain.

The chief guest of the occasion, Padmashree Prof. Bimal Roy, Former Director of ISI Kolkata, delivered the inaugural speech. Prof. Roy spoke passionately about the progress and challenges in the field of cryptography, highlighting the ever-evolving nature of the discipline and its critical role in ensuring data security in a digital-first world. Sh. Sabyasachi Hota, OAS, Registrar of IIIT Bhubaneswar, concluded the ceremony with a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the support of the ISEA Project and expressing gratitude to all the distinguished guests and participants.

With over 80 participants from premier academic institutions across the country, the workshop aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of cryptology, its applications, and its growing importance in securing digital transactions and communications. The training sessions will cover a wide range of topics in cryptography, fostering deeper knowledge and expertise in the field.
