International Nurses Day -2023 at KINS

Bhubaneswar : Founder of KIIT and KISS Dr. Achyuta Samanta on the International Nurses Day compared the dedicated work of the nurses with the concept of “Art of Giving” as through their selfless service nurses are spreading happiness to one and all. He also conveyed best wishes to the nursing students and wished for their bright future.

The day was observed with a central theme “Our nurses, our future.” Every year May 12, the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale is celebrated across the world as “International Nurses Day” who is considered the Founder of Modern Nursing.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sasmita Rani Samanta, VC KIIT DU said “healthcare is a human right and it should be ensured with dignity. She threw some lights on innovations and modern technological interventions in nursing. She also emphasized universal health coverage with the “Health for all” goal and motivated students to create happiness and ray of hope among the people.

Prof. CBK Mohanty, Pro-VC KIIT DU (KIMS) said “nursing students should keep a compassionate, empathetic and positive attitude towards needy people.’’

KIMS Nursing Superintendent Susamma Sahu asked the new entrants to the nursing profession to utilize all possible resources and opportunities available in the world class university with a super specialty tertiary care hospital.

Among others Principal, KIMS Prof. Ambika Prasad Mohanty; KIMS Medical Superintendent Prof. R.C Das also spoke on the occasion.

KINS Principal Prof Niyati Das highlighted the significance of oath taking and lamp lighting ceremony for the new students. She also persuaded all budding nursing students to spread the fragrance of their knowledge and compassionate care. She mentioned nurses are not only front-line workers, but are also change agents for future healthcare. Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Kalyani Rath, Vice-Principal KINS.
