96-YEARS OLD FREEDOM FIGHTER DEFEATS COVID-19 AT SUM COVID HOSPITAL
Bhubaneswar,(Kalinga Voice) : In the continuing battle against the Covid-19 pandemic, a 96-year-old freedom fighter under treatment at the SUM Covid Hospital here has emerged victorious spreading cheer all around.
Mr. Loknath Nayak, who tested positive for Coronavirus on September 29, was admitted into the hospital on the same day complaining of fever, weakness, and breathing problems. He was discharged from the hospital, the largest Covid-19 facility in the state, on Wednesday.
Having joined the freedom movement in his young days, Mr. Nayak served the government as an officer until his retirement.
Mr. Nayak was diagnosed with Covid-19 and also had underlying comorbidities including Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and diabetes, the critical care team treating the nonagenarian, said.
Mr. Nayak, who was under anti-viral treatment, was in the ICU for a few days till he recovered fully. “The treatment I received was beyond my expectation. The doctors and nurses treated me with much care and compassion. I am grateful to them,” he said.
Mr. Manoranjan Nayak, son of Mr. Nayak, thanked the treating team profusely saying the care and treatment received by his father was of the highest order. “We are grateful to the hospital,” he said
