Major achievements of DWR during the Calendar Year-2022: More Irrigation facility has been provided

Bhubaneswar: During the calendar year 2022 the Department of Water Resources has made remarkable achievements in implementation of different projects. During last calendar year Deo medium irrigation has been dedicated to the people of the State by the Chief Minister on 12.08.2022. The project has been able to provide irrigation benefit to 9900 hectares in 100 villages covering Karanjia and Sukuruli blocks of Mayurbhanj district and Sahadapada block of Keonjhar district. Similarly remaining work of Mahanadi Chitrotpala Island Irrigation has been completed during 2022 and dedicated to the people of State by Hon’ble Minister, Water resources on 18.05.2022.The project will provide irrigation to 6000 hectares to 64 villages covering the Marsaghai and Gardapur blocks of Kendrapada district, Tirtol block of Jagatsingpur district and Nischintakoili block of Cuttack district.
Irrigation facility has also been provided to additional 17,121 hectares area from Subarnarekha Irrigation Project during 2022. Chief Minister has inaugurated the canal system on dated 12.08.2022. So far,52,480 ha has been provided irrigation facilities out of 69,933 ha taken up under phase-I.
Further, Gangadhar Meher Lift Canal project in Bargarh district is in advance stage of construction. Considering the demand of people, additional work amounting to ₹177.10 crore has been approved by the State Cabinet on 18.05.2022 which will provide irrigation to additional 5750 ha. new ayacut. The command area of the project increased from 25,600 ha.to 31,350 ha.R&R issues of Lower Suktel Project have been resolved and headwork are in progress and about to irrigate 40,000 ha.through UGPL. Similarly R&R works of Kanupur have been resolved and the headworks and the canal works are in progress.44 Mega lift irrigation projects have been completed during the last year. The DoWRhas also achieved success in many sectors during the last year and received awards from Govt. of India and the State Govt. as well.
