Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar Hosts Continuous Physiotherapy Education (C.P.E.) 6.0 to Mark World Physiotherapy Day
Bhubaneshwar-Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar marked the 6thedition of Continuous Physiotherapy Education (C.P.E.) 6.0, to commemorate World Physiotherapy Day. The event witnessed the participation of over 100 professional physiotherapists from across Odisha’s districts, emphasizing the vital role physiotherapists play in patient care and recovery.
World Physiotherapy Day 2024 Theme is on “Low Back Pain and the Role of Physiotherapy in Its Management”, highlighting the impact of physiotherapy on treating and managing one of the most common global health issues. The event served as a platform to generate awareness about the significance of physiotherapists in enabling mobility, health, and independence within society.
The occasion was graced by Martin Owens, Head Coach at Odisha’s Reliance High Performance Centre, located at the Kalinga Stadium, which boasts South Asia’s only indoor athletics track. Owens, a renowned figure in sports education, shared his insights on the essential role physiotherapy plays in sports, stating, “Physiotherapy is a cornerstone for athletes to recover, perform, and excel, ensuring both physical resilience and long-term career sustainability.”
Dr.Patitapaban Mohanty, Director of SVNIRTAR and Guest of Honour at the event, lauded Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar’s initiative. Dr. Mohanty added on this year’s theme, “Low back pain is a global concern, and physiotherapy offers a holistic approach to managing and preventing its long-term effects.”
Dr.Saktimaya Mohapatra, Hospital Director, emphasized the critical role of physiotherapists, saying, “Physiotherapists help take care of patients throughout all phases of healing, from initial diagnosis to restorative and preventive stages of recovery.” Dr. Siddharth Mishra, Medical Superintendent of Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar, added, “Physiotherapy is a partnership in healing, where hope and science meet.”
The event was organized by the Department of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation at Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar, led by Dr. Sibani Sankar Tripathy (PT) and his highly skilled team. The institute provides care to over 200 patients daily, offering specialized services in orthopedics, neurology, and sports rehabilitation with advanced equipment.
This year’s C.P.E. 6.0 serves as a testament to Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar’s commitment to advancing physiotherapy education and patient care, ensuring a healthier, more mobile future for all.
