Place-based incentives allowed forMCH Teachers in remote areas

Bhubaneswar(Kalinga Voice):   As another move toattract best medical teachers forquality enhancement in medical education, State Government have enhanced the base remuneration for Tutors, Senior Residents (SRs) and Junior Residents (JRs) working in different medical college and hospitals (MCHs). Government have also allowedplace-based incentives to these medical college teachers posted in remote areas.

Secretary Health and Family Welfare Smt. ShaliniPandit issued these orders through a departmental notification. The notification mentioned that enhancement in base remuneration was allowed to draw more number of highly qualified teachers to the newly coming up MCHs. Place-based remuneration was also considered necessary for incentivising the teachers to serve in the MCHs located at remote and difficult areas.

For the place-based incentives, different areas of the State wereclubbed up under 3 zones: Zone-A consisting of the districts like Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal; Zone-B consisting of Keonjhar, Boudh, Balasore, Gajpati, Sonepur, Deoghar, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Angul, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj; and, Zone-C consisting of Dhenkanal, Puri, Nayagarh, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Jagatsinghpur districts. No place-based incentive was allowed for the districts like Cuttack, Khordha, and Ganjam.

Both the in-service and directly recruited faculties would get the place-based incentive. Enhanced base remuneration would be applicable for all Tutors, SRs and JRs who were either direct candidates ( Post PG bound period) or engaged through advertisements when they were posted in any health institution.

The teaching faculty in MCHs expressed satisfaction over such decisions of the Government as it catered to their long-felt need.

          The notification mentioned revised remuneration and place-based incentive as follows.
