Bhubaneswar, May 15: The importance of Forensic Medicine in delivering justice to the common man was discussed at a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program organised at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital here on Friday to mark the National Forensic Medicine Day.
The subject of the CME, organised by the hospital’s department of FM and T, was ‘Multidimensional Aspects of Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection Act)’ on health care system.
Prof. (Dr.) Sachidananda Mohanty, Odisha’s Director, Medical Education and Training, was the chief guest on the occasion while Prof. (Dr.) Braja Kishore Dash, Additional DMET attended as guest of honour. Prof. (Dr.) Pusparaj Samantasinhar, Medical Superintendent of IMS and SUM Hospital, and Prof. (Dr.) Kunal Mishra, Head, Department of FM and T, also spoke.
Dr. Purabi Mohanty presented the introductory talk on PC and PNDT Act while Dr. Rachita Pravalina spoke on ‘Reality Co-relation in O and G Practices with respect to PC and PNDT Act’.
Dr. Preetam Kumar Lenka and Dr. Bikash Chandra Nayak , all from the FM and T department, Dr. Adya Kinkar Panda from the department of Radiodiagnosis, Dr. J. Bikrant Kumar Prusty from department of Pediatrics and Dr. Rakesh Mohanty from department of Psychiatry also spoke. Dr. Mohan Kumar Hansda proposed the vote of thanks.
