Bhubaneswar, Dec. 6: Experts, environmental activists, business leaders and community advocates will be attending a one-day conclave to be held at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) here on December 8 to discuss the impact of climate change and future challenges.
The day-long National Seminar on ‘Climate Change: Prospects and Challenges’ has been jointly organised by SOA and Ever Green Forum, a social organization working in the field of plantation, protection of environment, wildlife and biodiversity conservation and popularization of science and technology.
“The seminar is intended to address the urgent issues of climate change and explore pathways towards a sustainable and resilient future,” Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, said.
Dr. Prakash Chandra Jena, Founder President of Ever Green Forum and Convenor of the seminar, said the sub-themes to be deliberated upon at the conclave will include Science and Climate Change, impact of climate change on environment, food security, water resources, clean energy, sustainable development and human health.
The experts who will address the conclave will include Dr. R.Krishnan, Director of the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune, Dr. Nabansu Chattopadhyay, President, International Society for Agricultural Meteorology, Mr. Ashok Kumar Biswal, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Mizoram, Prof. Uma Charan Mohanty, Distinguished Professor at SOA’s Centre for Climate Smart Agriculture (CCSA), Prof. Rajeev Bhatia, Department of Geophysics, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Prof. Rabindra Kumar Panda, Director, CCSA, Dr. Pramod Kumar Panda, Principal Scientist, ICAR, Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar, Dr. Nihar Ranjan Das, Visiting Professor, CCSA, Dr. Sarat Chandra Sahu, Director, SOA’s Centre for Environment and Climate and Ms. Sadhwi Sindura, State Lead-Odisha and Program Coordinator, Marine Division, WWF India.
