PM Modi appreciated the preparedness and disaster management activities by the Government of Odisha
Bhubaneswar (Kalinga Voice) Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Odisha to review the situation arising out of Cyclone Yaas. He undertook an aerial survey of the cyclone-affected areas in Bhadrak and Baleswar districts of Odisha. Prior to the aerial survey, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting in Bhubaneswar to review the relief and rehabilitation measures being undertaken in the presence of the Governer Odisha Prof Ganesi Lal, the Chief Minister Odisha Sri Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Sri Dharmendra Pradhan, and Sri Pratap Sarangi. During the meeting, Odisha has not saught any immediate demand since the country is facing the peak of Covid pandemic. But the Chief Minister Sri Pattanaik urged for long-term solutions and preparedness for disasters.
PM Modi appreciated the preparedness and disaster management activities by the Government of Odisha which has resulted in minimal loss of lives. He also noted that the state has embarked on long term mitigation efforts for dealing with such natural disasters.
Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra, Advisor to CM Asit Tripathy, SRC cum ACS Pradeep Jena, Secretary to CM (5T) V K Pandian, DGP Abhay were present during the meeting .
After the meeting CM Naveen Pattanaik tweets ” As the country is at the peak of #COVID19 pandemic, we have not sought any immediate financial assistance to burden the Central Govt and would like to manage it through our own resources to tide over the crisis. Sought assistance for long term measures to make #Odisha disaster resilient as we are frequented by such climate hazards every year. Highlighted #Odisha’s demand for disaster resilient power infrastructure and resilient coastal protection with storm surge resilient embankments”
