NTPC Bhubaneswar echoes “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” on 75th Independence Day

Bhubaneswar(Kalinga Voice): NTPC Bhubaneswar joined the rest of the country in celebrating the 75th Independence Day Celebrations on the theme “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrated across the country following COVID protocols. Shri S.K.Satya, Regional Executive Director, NTPC (Eastern Region 2) hoisted the National Flag. 

In his address to the employees and their family members, Shri Satya highlighted various achievements of NTPC in general and NTPC Eastern Region 2 in particular. He informed that with the completion of trial operation of 2nd unit of 800 MW capacity of Darlipali Super Thermal Power Project (2×800 MW) in Sundergarh District of Orissa, India’s largest power utility NTPC is now having an installed capacity of 66885 MW.

Addressing the employees present on the occasion, Shri Satya said, NTPC group generating 23% of total electricity in India with 17 % share of Company’s total installed capacity. During the financial year 2020-21, 4160 MW capacity has been added. Projects of 17,874 MW are under construction.

Shri Satya said that NTPC isstriving towards achieving excellence in every sphere. While talking about measures taken by NTPC towards Environment protection, Shri Satya said NTPC undertakes comprehensive environment management plan right from conception of project , selection of site, and technology for power generation and pollution control. It has also taken initiative for installation of Flue gas desulfurization (FGD) system for SOx and NOx emission control to comply with revised emission norms.NTPC has  planted more than 35 million trees till date .

Shri Satya in his speech informed that NTPC is executing Rural Electricity Infrastructure & BPL Household Electrification work under DDUGJY scheme and non-BPL Household Electrification work under SAUBHAGYA scheme in 15 districts of Odisha on behalf of GoO and respective DISCOMs.The cumulative electrification work has been completed in 17286 villages out of total of 17311villages.

While referring to the situation arising out of the Covid – 19 pandemic, Shri Satya said that several steps have been taken to mitigate the crisis by NTPC byproviding face masks, Rapid Antigen Tests kits,PPE kits, sanitizers, oxygen concentrators tothe local hospitals as well as to district health administration. Covid-19 Centers have been made ready at NTPC Hospitals along with dedicated medical staff for isolation of Covid-19 patients with no/mild symptoms.
