Bongaigaon: NTPC Bongaigaon marked World Water Day with a series of activities aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and water conservation across the township and nearby community.
The programme commenced with Shri Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, administering the World Water Day pledge in the presence of Shri Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), Shri Kumar Vikram, AGM (EMG & BE), along with Heads of Departments, representatives of unions and associations, employees and residents. The pledge reinforced the importance of responsible water usage and a collective commitment to conservation. This was followed by a tree plantation drive in the NTPC Bongaigaon township, led by Shri Arnab Maitra and Shri Anurag Gupta, with active participation from employees, HODs and township residents, symbolising a step towards environmental sustainability.
As part of the outreach initiatives, a drawing competition was organised on 19th March 2026 at Salakati ME Government School to create awareness among school children about water conservation and environmental protection. A quiz competition for employees was also conducted that day, encouraging engagement on water-related themes.
Further, a handmade poster competition was organised on 20th March 2026 for two categories—spouses and children of employees—providing a platform for creative expression on the theme of water conservation. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Maitra emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in conserving water resources and highlighted that sustainable practices at both individual and organisational levels are essential for ensuring a secure future. He also reiterated NTPC’s continued focus on environmental sustainability and community awareness.
The series of activities reflects NTPC Bongaigaon’s consistent efforts to promote environmental consciousness, sustainability and community participation in line with its commitment to responsible nation-building.
