Bhubaneswar/ Kalinga Voice : Afflicted by Covid-19, an 80-year-old woman in Odisha’s Kendrapara district has conquered the virus showing incredible mental strength, courage and fortitude.
The district collector Mr. Amrit Ruturaj has twitted about Khiroda’s valiant battle against the disease and her victory.
When Khiroda Mohanty was wheeled into the SUM Covid Hospital at Chhata on the outskirt of Kendrapara town on June 6, she was critically ill with her oxygen saturation level plummeting to 56.
Hailing from Haridaspur village in Garadpur block of the district, she was earlier suffering from cold, cough and fever. Her son Khageswar Mohanty rushed her to the District Headquarter Hospital at Kendrapara for treatment.
The antigen test conducted on Khiroda and her son yielded negative result. But as she had difficulty in breathing, she was admitted into the Covid facility where her RT-PCR report indicated presence of the virus.
“Good treatment and care by the doctors and the medical team’s continuous encouragement turned my mother around,” Khageswar said.
