Odisha is the first state to adopt digital survey policy in agriculture sector

Bhubaneswar: Digital Survey Policy in Agriculture to facilitate crop production and processing e-ChasaApp and Portal was launched today by the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers and Farmers’ Empowerment, Energy ShriKanakVardhanSinghdeo at the research plot of the Agronomy premises of OAUT.During the official launch of the e-Chasa app and portal, Principal SecretaryDr.Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Director of Agriculture ShriPremchandraChoudhary, OUAT Vice Chancellor ShriPrabhat Kumar Raul, scientists, agriculturists and farmers were present.

The digital crop survey program across Odisha will promote robust farmer policies and provide accurate data on crops grown in remote and inaccessible hilly areas, based on which data will subsequently help in formulating sound policies in the agricultural sector. E-Chasa App and Portal Digital Crop Survey will enable technology based agriculture services in Odisha. Odisha is the first state to adopt digital survey policy in the field of agriculture and about 48 lakh farmers will be benefited due to this app and portal, Minister ShriSinghdeo said.

The e-chasa app and portal is a decisive step in the field of agriculture. It will provide farmers with a comprehensive, single window platform. Through which crop related data and information can be checked anytime and in any weather. The survey has already been tested on pilot basis in Bhadrak, Deogarh, Nuapada and Nayagarh districts in 2023.

After successfully surveying about 30 lakh plots, it has now been expanded to the whole of Odisha. In this, about 3 crore agricultural plots will be surveyed in 48 lakh hectares of agriculture land. For this, 28 thousand surveyors, 8 thousand supervisors and 1400 inspectors have been engaged, ShriPadhee said.
