Odisha Vets stand firm with Government: Donate 20 Lakhs to CM’s relief Fund to mitigate the train tragedy
Bhubaneswar : The whole world is shaken by the railway mishap at Bahanaga, Balasore on 2nd June 2023, that has disturbed many families both within the state and outside. While many children have been orphaned by the tragic incidence, many other families of survivors have fallen prey to prolonged physical and financial sufferings. The heart-breaking occurrence has driven humanitarian contributions from all corners in many forms to support the victims. The instant rescue and rehab measures taken by the locals have been widely praised. The Government of Odisha under the dynamic leadership of Honourable Chief Minister Sj Naveen Pattanaik is also leaving no stones unturned in combatting the disaster. The entire Government machinery of has also been working day and night to bring down the sufferings on the parts of the affected passengers.
As sensible human beings and responsible employees of the Government, the Veterinarians of the state under the banner of Odisha Veterinary Service Association (OVSA) have also extended their supporting hands to the victims of the tragedy. Dr. Jadunath Parida, President, OVSA has informed that they have donated a sum of Rupees Twenty Lakhs to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on 6th June 2023. A bank draft with the above amount has been handed over to the Chief Secretary of Odisha by the office bearers of Central Executive Committee of OVSA in Presence of the Principal Secretary, Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Department.
The General Secretary Dr. Sankarshan Mahunta has informed that a special General Body meeting of the association was held in virtual mode on Dt 03.06.23 where all members unanimously decided to raise a fund for financial assistance to the victims. The association also decided to collect the contribution at earliest so that it can help the very cause to the maximal extent and the amount was contributed by all veterinarians within only 12 hours.
The association has also planned for organisation of a blood donation camp shortly to meet the needs of the injured passengers who are under treatment now. The association also intends to extend any kind of support whenever the Government requires; Dr Mahunta added.
The noble and generous step of the OVSA in extending its support as the only service association of the state is gaining accolades from all quarters. Donation of such a huge amount within such a short span of time is being praised by the intellectuals in the society.
