Bhubaneswar(Kalinga Voice): “CBI inquiry of chit fund case has become a joke of the day . CBI has made the mockery of inquiry. When election or by-election is overhead, CBI gets up from its deep sleep. For seven years CBI has been investigating the chit fund scam. Where is the pace of the CBI investigation into the chit fund case? Doesn’t the political weather determine the course of the CBI investigation?” Many such questions were raised by the political parties and by the people too after the investigating agency went on a raid to the residence of former minister and present lawmaker of the ruling BJD Devi Prasad Mishra.
People are too puzzled with the attitude of the investigating agency. When the investigation will be over? when will the culprits be behind the bar ? When the people will be refunded back with their hard-earned money. People have put a question mark on the investigating style of CBI . It’s natural in the part the people of Odisha to believe that the CBI raids before election or byelection. The last episode of the CBI’raid or activity in Odisha was remembered before the last general election. Two influential leaders only were issued notices. Hue and cry were made for somedays. Then the CBI went on hibernation. And now after a span of a year and a half, CBI raids when two byelections for Baleswar and Tirttol is overhead, though it may be coincident. Today, the CBI raided the house of Devi Prasad Mishra, BJD legislator. In 2013, when Mr. Mishra was the Minister of Tourism, the sea-Shore Company was leased the Ghateshwar Ghat for Boating Project
Former Tourism Minister Devi Mishra has been questioned by CBI officials twice in this case before. The government documents in this regard were also seized. Today, the CBI raided nine places, including Devi Mishra’s Bhubaneswar and Narsinghpur houses. CBI too raided the residence of the then director tourism and BJD leader at present sri Rabinarayan Nanda, Swagatika Infra limited MD Prasant Pattanayak and Avenue Associate Private Limited Director Bisnu Mishra.
The Congress has strongly criticized the CBI’s investigation into Fars. With two by-elections ahead, the CBI remembered the chit fund scam. Congress MLA Sur Rautaray and Tara Bahinipati terming the raid as a drama told that CBI is acting on the behest of the Central Government since two by-elections are overhead
BJP spokesperson Lelin Mohanty said ” The CBI has been investigating cases in Odisha over the past seven years. A pattern is seen that the CBI starts conducting searches, raids and issues notices just before the By-elections, General Elections and Panchayat elections. People of Odisha are wondering why such things happen before any election”
On the otherhand The BJP today responded that the CBI was doing its job.
