RAILWAY RESTORATION WORKS IN FULL SWING AFTER CYCLONIC STORM “YAAS”:TRAIN SERVICES TO BE RESUMED SHORTLY.
- Patrolling of tracks, Bridges ensured no damage prior to resumption of Special train services.
- Detailed track and Over Head Electrification inspection completed before evening.
- Shelter provided to needy people at station circulating areas.
- Food and Water distribution to stranded passengers and public.
Bhubaneswar (Kalinga Voice) : East Coast Railway has prepared itself to run train services after post-cyclone YAAS. Patrolling of Tracks & Bridges in sensitive areas and pre-cyclone minute to minute planning for restoration thereafter will help for early restoration of train services. Detailed track and OHE inspection was conducted in the affected section of Jajpur Keonjhar Road-Ranital section, Bhadrak-Dhamra Port section, Cuttack-Paradip section and Haridaspur-Paradip section of the Division and no major damage to the Railway property has been reported. No damage to Railway Installation or Railway quarter has been reported.
The Railway stations like Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Paradeep Port and Dhamra Port etc which were put on high alert, have experienced heavy rain and speedy winds during the cyclone. Port-Railway operations at both locations is likely to resume by late evening after completing inspections of their loading and unloading machinery and tracks.
Headquarters officials and Crisis Management Team and Divisional officers at Khurda Road were continuously monitoring the impact of the cyclone at all stations between Bhubaneswar and Bhadrak and accordingly restoration works was planned.
