SCIENTISTS, EXPERTS IN ELECTRICAL POWER ENGINEERING ATTEND TWO-DAY 3RD ODICON AT SOA
Bhubaneswar, Nov. 11: The 3rd Odisha International Conference on Electrical Power Engineering, Communication and Computing Technology (ODICON-2024), a biennial conference attracting researchers, scientists, engineers and scholars, was held at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University on November 8 and 9.
Technically co-sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Kolkata section, IEEE Bhubaneswar Sub-section and IEEE Communications and Computer Societies Joint Chapter, the conference provided a platform for the participants to exchange and share their experiences, new ideas and research results.
The conference, organised in hybrid mode, was organised by the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), faculty of engineering and technology of SOA.
Addressing the program as the chief guest, Prof. H.K. Rath, Chair, IEEE, Bhubaneswar Sub-section, said it was exhilarating that the conference had received as many as 640 submissions and 170 research papers which was much more than the 310 submissions and 91 research papers received during the first ODICON held in 2021.
“This growth demonstrates the relevance of our chosen themes —Electrical Power Engineering, Communication and Computing Technology—in addressing some of most pressing challenges and advancing technological innovation being faced today, he said.
Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, spoke about the university’s thrust areas in research which were grounded in advancing technologies which had a clear impact on the society. From Artificial Intelligence, renewable energy and healthcare technologies to advanced computing and environmental sciences, SOA’s focus was to bridge the gaps between academia and industry, he said.
Prof. Bhim Singh from IIT, Delhi, Prof. S.R.Samantaray from IIT, Bhubaneswar, Prof. Ankit R. Patel from University of Minho, Portugal also addressed the conference. Prof. (Dr.) P.K.Sahoo, Dean of ITER and Prof. Renu Sharma, Additional Dean (Student Affairs), ITER also spoke.
