SINGLE WINDOW CLEARS SEVEN NEW INVESTMENT PROPOSALS OF WORTH RS. 2083.88 CR

Bhubaneswar, (Kalinga Voice) : In another step towards creation employment opportunities through industrialization, State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sri Suresh Chandra Mahapatra today has accorded in principle approval to seven industrial projects envisaging investment of around Rs.2083.88 cr and direct employment opportunities for 2,144 persons. Besides, the projects will create many more indirect employment opportunities and will enhance economic activities in different parts of the State.

            Giving in principle nod to the proposals, Chief Secretary Sri Mahapatra directed  concerned departments to facilitate early grounding of the projects and do proper assessment of the land and water requirement. 

            Presenting details of the investment proposals, Principal Secretary Industry Sri Hemant Kumar Sharma said, “The Proposals are mainly from the sectors like power and renewable energy, tourism, and food processing.  Mainly three grain based ethanol projects will add to State’s capacity for reduction of carbon foot print in power generation”.

MD IPICOL Sri Bhoopinder Singh Poonia presented project wise details for discussion. The projects that received in principle approval of the meeting included the following.

  • A 500 KLPD grain-based Ethanol Plant and 8MW Co-gen Power Plant by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd envisaging investment of Rs 870 crore proposed to be set up in Balgopalpur Industrial Estate of Balasore district The plant would generate potential employment opportunities for over 194 persons.
  • A 500 KLPD grain-based Ethanol Plant (in two phases) by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited with an investment of Rs 500 crore proposed to  be set up in Umerkote, of  Nabarangpur district. The unit would create employment opportunities for over 240 persons.
  • A 100 KLPD grain-based ethanol plant along with Compressed Biogas(CBG) plant of 12 TPD capacity and 2.20 MW Co-gen power plant by Newalt Energy Private Limited envisaging an investment  of Rs. 125 crore and employment potential for 650 persons. The unit was proposed to be set up in  Bantala of Angul  district.
  • A Multi-Modal Logistics Park by International Cargo Terminals and Infrastructure Private Limited against an investment of Rs 150 crore to be set up at Kujang in Jagatsinghpur district. The park would generate employment potential for over 100 persons.
  • One 18.75 MW Solar Power Plant by Aditya Birla Renewables Limited with an investment of Rs 89.44 crore and employment potential for over 28 persons. The unit was proposed to be set up at Saintala of  Balangir district. 
  • A 5-star deluxe hotel by ​​Atmosphere Core India Private Limited visualizing  investment of Rs 184.64 crore  and employment opportunity for 469 persons. The hotel was proposed to be established in the district of Khordha.
  • A 5-star hotel by ​​D N Homes Private Limited with an investment of Rs 164.80 crore  and employment potential for over 463 persons.  It was proposed to be set up near  Chandaka of Khurdha district. 

            Discussions in the meeting show that Odisha has become an investment destination because of the facilitating business environment and natural endowment.  A number of companies coming forward for investment and some approved units commencing operations substantiate State’s commitment for industrial growth. 

            Development Commissioner Sri Pardeep Kumar Jena, Additional Chief Secretary Forest and Environment Dr Mona Sharma, Principal Secretary Industry Sri Hemant Kumar Sharma, Principal Secretary Water Resources Smt Anu Garg, Principal Secretary Finance Sri Ashok Kumar Meena, MD PICOL Sri B. S. Poonia  along with principal secretaries, secretaries and senior officers of the concerned departments participate in the discussions.
