SOA ORGANISES INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON APPLIED MATHEMATICS

Bhubaneswar, July 27: Continuous learning and sharing of knowledge are essential for personal and collective growth within the academic community, Prof. O.D.Makinde, Professor at the Stellenbosch University, South Africa has said.

Speaking at the 3rd International Conference on Applied Mathmatics organised at the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), faculty of engineering of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) which concluded on Saturday, Prof. Makinde highlighted the importance of learning and collaboration.

Prof. Makinde said that science, engineering and technology being universal, academics could communicate with each other to acquire knowledge.

Prof. R.P. Sharma, Dean of National Institute of Technology in Arunachal Pradesh, emphasized the importance of self-appreciation and active engagement in one’s endeavours.

Referring to Chilean poet Pablo Neruda’s poem ‘You start dying slowly’, he said that the Nobel Laureate had pointed out that neglect of self-appreciation led to stagnation. He urged the researchers to actively pursue their research work.

The program was also addressed by Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, Prof. Manjula Das, SOA’s Controller of Examination, Prof. Renu Sharma, Additional Dean (Student Affairs), ITER, Prof. Sunita Chand, Organising Secretary of the event and Head of Department of Mathematics and Dr. Apul Narayan Dev, Convenor of the program.
