Bhubaneswar: The Sports & Youth Services Department (DSYS) welcomed Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma as the new Principal Secretary. After joining the Department Sri Sarma paid a courtesy visit to Hon’ble Sports and Youth Services Minister Shri Suryabanshi Suraj at the Kalinga Stadium.
On assuming charges, Shri Sarma engaged in a comprehensive interaction with senior officers of the department, where he was briefed on the current state and future plans of the Odisha sports ecosystem. The briefing provided a detailed overview of the department’s ongoing initiatives, sports infrastructure, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
Shri Sarma expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “I look forward to working closely with our dedicated team to enhance the sports infrastructure, strengthen grassroots and support our young athletes. Together, we can create a robust sports ecosystem that fosters excellence and encourages participation at all levels.”
Later, accompanied by DSYS officials, Shri Sarma visited the Gymnastics and Aquatics Centre, where he had the opportunity to meet with coaches and athletes.
Shri Sarma brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the development of sports and youth services in the state. The Sports & Youth Services Department is confident that under Shri Sarma’s leadership, the department will continue to thrive and achieve new milestones in promoting sports and youth development.
