Rayagada/Bhubaneswar(Saroj Sahu) : One mass awareness programme SwachhataPakhwada was conducted yesterday with great enthusiasm at the Baphlimali mines of Utkal Alumina International Ltd(UAIL), “ a unit of Hindalco, the metals flagship of the Aditya Birla Group. This is a part of the initiative undertaken by the Indian Bureau of Mines from 16th – 30th November, 2020.
The core aim was to create an awareness on the importance of cleanliness and how every individual is crucial and liable to the cleanliness of the Nation. Amidst the COVID-19 restriction the program was organized while encouraging people to maintain best of hygiene practices to fight this pandemic.
There was a “Walk and Sweep” movement where all employees and workers cleaned the road at a designated route. Another great talking point of the event is that a great level of COVID-19 precautions were taken throughout, starting from maintaining social distance while searing to constantly wearing of masks. In addition the participants too had sanitized their hands after due intervals. The Baphlimali team did a great job in organizing such an event while maintaining good hygienic standards despite the COVID-19 crisis.
The Mines Head, Mr. Mukesh Jha, and Head-Geology, Mr. Krishna Jyotishi were present during the event. The Prize Distribution ceremony was organized where the employees and workers who had played a major role in keeping good cleanliness standards in the Baphlimali Mine area, were lauded and awarded with prizes. This program was well organized by Mr Pradyumna Das and other member of Baphlimali mines.
Speaking for the occasion, the Unit Head & President of UAIL, Mr. Mazharullah Beig “appreciated the role of the all stakeholders in taking this initiative of “SwachhtaPakhwada”, and thereby ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of the entire Baphlimali Mines. He also congratulated the entire team of Baphlimali for taking this great initiative at this pandemic times and giving utmost importance to hygiene and cleanliness.
As a responsible corporate citizen UAIL is deeply engaged in executing its CSR activities in its peripheral villages in the area of education, healthcare, sustainable livelihood, rural infrastructure and addressing the issues of social concern. Overall UAIL is engaged in 57 villages servicing more than 30,000 populace in Odisha.
