National, January 23, 2026 – Tata Power led Odisha Discoms has solidified their position as a national leader in the energy sector, achieving top-tier honors in the Fourteenth Integrated Ratings and Rankings Report of Power Distribution Utilities for FY 2025. The latest report, released by the Ministry of Power evaluated a total of 65 utilities across India. This milestone marks the third consecutive year that the Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms have been recognized on a national platform for their transformative impact on the state’s power infrastructure.

TPNODL emerged as a standout performer, securing the 9th position nationally among all discoms. This milestone marks a significant achievement for Odisha, with TPNODL and TPCODL both maintaining the prestigious A+ grade, while TPWODL secured a high-performance A grade.

The report highlights a significant upward trajectory for Odisha’s power infrastructure, citing the collective progress of these utilities as a successful transition toward a modern, resilient power grid. A major factor contributing to these high national rankings is the marked improvement in billing efficiency across the state. Specifically, the Ministry of Power cited TPNODL and TPCODL for recording improvements of over 2 percentage points, a feat that underscores their technical proficiency. Furthermore, all three Discoms have demonstrated exceptional financial discipline by maintaining an efficient collection cycle, achieving a Days Receivable period of 60 days or less, which contributed to the broader national trend of the distribution sector turning profitable for the first time in history during FY 2025.

Commenting on the recognition, Mr. Gajanan Kale, Chief of Odisha Distribution Business and CEO, TPNODL said “We are dedicated to fundamentally transforming India’s power distribution landscape by building utilities that are not only operationally efficient and future-ready but also deeply rooted in the needs of our customers. This national recognition from the Ministry of Power is a testament to our success in placing the consumer at the heart of our digital and infrastructural evolution. We are grateful for this honor and remain committed to setting new benchmarks in reliability and service excellence for every household we serve.”

By adopting best practices in smart grid automation, AI-driven customer support, and strategic loss reduction, Tata Power led Odisha Discoms continue to set a national standard for power distribution excellence.

In partnership with the Government of Odisha, these joint ventures under the Tata Power umbrella have led one of the most ambitious distribution reforms in India.
