Tata Steel and NINL Commemorate International Women’s Day

More than 800 women from the Company and from the nearby villages participate

Kalinganagar, March 8, 2025: Tata Steel, Tata Steel Foundation, Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) mark the  International Women’s Day by organising various events for the women employees and women from nearby villages. Tata Stessl Foundation hosted a mega event at the Multi Skill Centre in Danagadi, drawing over 350 women from 24 panchayats across the Danagadi and Sukinda blocks. Dr. Mani Prasad Mishra, OAS-I (JB), Block Development Officer, Danagadi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, along with Jyotismita Nayak, Reporter, News 7, and Dr. Ambika Prasad Nanda, Head, CSR Odisha, Tata Steel Foundation.

The event facilitated a dynamic exchange of ideas and experiences, providing a platform for women to showcase their achievements and share their success stories. Participants from the Tata Steel Foundation’s ‘DISHA’ project also presented their experiences, highlighting the programme’s impact.

A key highlight of the event was the felicitation of 60 women from the community who demonstrated exceptional performance in various competitions organised by the Tata Steel Foundation in the preceding week. These competitions, held across the 24 participating panchayats, celebrated the spirit of womanhood and recognised outstanding contributions.

A similar event was organised by the Tata Steel Foundation, Bamnipal at Khandurai Community Hall, Deulakan where around 100 Women Self-help group members from 5 panchayats participated, Ms. Pramodini Sahoo, Inspector-In-Charge, Police Station Tomka, Jajpur graced the occasion as Chief Guest, along with Ms. Rajalaxmi Mahapatra, Sarpanch, Kiajhar Gram Panchayat and Ms. Basanti Murmu, Sarpanch, Rasol Gram Panchayat.

In a parallel celebration, the Engineering & Project Team at Tata Steel Kalinganagar organised an event at the Sampoorna Kitchen compound within the plant premises. This event engaged over 300 women, including employees and contract workers, and featured experience-sharing sessions and cultural performances, marking the day with festive activities and community spirit.

A similar event was also organised by Contract Cell (Operations & Maintenance), Tata Steel Kalinganagar at Recreation Centre inside plant premises. More than 350contract women employees participated in the event fostering sharing of experiences and cultural performances.

NINL celebrated the event at the community hall of NINL Township, where more than 70 women participated. Dr . Ratna Sinha, Leadership Coach and former Vice President, HRM, Tata Metaliks graced the occasion as chief guest along with Sudhir Mehta, MD and CEO, NINL and other senior leadership of NINL. The event aimed to recognise and appreciate the contributions of women in our workplace.

These initiatives underscore Tata Steel’s commitment to empowering women and promoting gender equality within its operational areas.
