Tata Steel celebrates the 187th birth anniversary of J. N. Tata across its units in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, March 3, 2026: Tata Steel commemorated the 187th Founder’s Day of its founder, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, across its Odisha operations under the theme “One Vision, One Tata Steel.”
In Bhubaneswar, the observance began with floral tributes at the Chief Resident Executive (CRE) Office, honouring the Founder’s enduring vision. Similar homage ceremonies were held at the Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD) offices in Bhubaneswar and Sukinda. Senior leadership at Tata Steel Technical Service Limited and the Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Center paid tribute to J.N. Tata. To mark the occasion, a spirited six-a-side friendly hockey tournament was organised, with enthusiastic participation from staff.

At Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK), employees led a formal parade from the Project Office to the TSK Centre, where senior leadership, union representatives and employees paid homage. More than 800 Tata Parivar members at TSK and Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) took part in week-long celebrations, including a friendly football tournament, various sporting events and a quiz competition held at the Rehabilitation & Resettlement Colony and company housing colonies.

At Tata Steel Meramandali (TSM), floral wreaths were laid at the statue of J.N. Tata. The residential colony and main gate were illuminated with decorative lights, while sports and athletics programmes were organised for employees and their families, along with games for children.

In Joda, the Ore Mines and Quarries (OMQ) Division observed the day with floral tributes at Joda East Iron Mine, Khondbond Iron Mine, NINL Mine, Kalamang and Gandhalpada Project Office, and Bileipada Sponge Iron Plant. Employees participated in sports activities, and fruit packets were distributed to in-patients at Tata Steel Main Hospital, Joda.

Homage was also paid at Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited (TSSEZL) in Gopalpur and at offices of Subarnarekha Port Private Limited (SPPL), where employees joined in remembering the Founder’s legacy.
Founder’s Day remains a moment of collective pride for Tata Steel, celebrating the visionary leadership and enduring ideals of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, which continue to guide the organisation’s journey forward.
