TPCODL Engages Thousands at Baliyatra, Empowering Consumers with Solar Energy Awareness

Bhubaneswar, November 08, 2025: TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has set up a Solar Energy Awareness and Engagement Camp at the iconic Baliyatra Fair in Cuttack, one of Asia’s largest trade and cultural events celebrating Odisha’s maritime legacy.
As part of its commitment to promoting renewable energy, TPCODL is showcasing the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana – Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) model, demonstrating how consumers can easily adopt rooftop solar systems. The initiative educates visitors on the economic and environmental benefits of solar energy while simplifying the online registration and installation process.
Alongside the awareness drive, TPCODL has ensured uninterrupted 24×7 power supply across the sprawling 130-acre fairground, enabling a seamless experience for exhibitors and visitors. At the camp, company representatives are engaging thousands of visitors, addressing queries, sharing informative leaflets and guiding interested consumers to begin their rooftop solar journey. Visitors can apply directly at the camp or register online to avail benefits under the ULA scheme.
Commenting on the initiative, Arvind Singh, CEO, TPCODL, said, “Baliyatra is a great platform to engage with the public and promote clean, affordable energy. Through this initiative, we aim to empower consumers to embrace rooftop solar under the PM Surya Ghar – ULA scheme, becoming proud contributors to a greener, energy-secure Odisha.”
Since its inauguration on November 5, the TPCODL camp has attracted thousands of visitors and is expected to witness strong footfall through November 12.

• Who is eligible? – Domestic electricity consumers with 1 kW contract demand.
• How much the consumer has to pay? – Only ₹5,000 plus generation meter charge.
• Roof space required? – Around 100 sq. ft. of unshaded roof area.
• Installer? – TPCODL facilitates the installation process through its empanelled vendors
• Maintenance? – Free for the first five years.

• Power generation? – About 100 units per month under normal conditions.
• Lifespan? – Approximately 25 years.
