Berhampur: TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has launched a robust initiative to combat wildlife poaching caused by the illegal use of live electricity wires. This initiative, spanning across the eight districts within TPSODL’s operational area, aims to protect biodiversity and prevent the tragic loss of animal lives.

In collaboration with the Forest Department and local law enforcement agencies, TPSODL has identified sensitive zones and bolstered surveillance efforts. The initiative is designed to raise awareness, monitor high-risk areas, and engage communities to eliminate the use of electrified wires for poaching.

“Our forests and wildlife are invaluable treasures that need safeguarding. Illegal use of electricity for poaching poses a grave threat to biodiversity. TPSODL is committed to addressing this issue through targeted measures and community participation,” said Mr. Amit Kumar Garg, Chief Operating Officer, TPSODL.

The initiative focuses on:

• Training linemen and field staff to detect and report unauthorized electrical connections.

• Organizing community workshops to educate locals on the consequences of poaching and the importance of conservation.

• Conducting engaging Nukkad Nataks (street plays) to sensitize the public about wildlife protection.

TPSODL’s efforts align with its broader vision of fostering a sustainable ecosystem where humans and wildlife thrive in harmony. Through this campaign, TPSODL reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding Southern Odisha’s rich natural heritage.
