TRAIN SERVICES AFFECTED FOR DERAILMENT BETWEEN ANGUL AND TALCHER ROAD SINGLE LINE SECTION

Bhubaneswar (Kalinga Voice) : In view of derailment of a goods train between Angul and Talcher Road single line Railway Section, train services in Dhenkanal-Sambalpur Rail Section has been affected. As a result, some of the trains have been cancelled, diverted, short terminated and rescheduled.

A Goods Train from Firoz Nagar to Khurda Road left Angul Station at 0215hrs and derailed KMs 167/2 between Angul and Talcher Road (2km from Talcher Road). 9 Wagons of the Goods Train have been capsized and 1 wagon derailed at about 0235hrs. Accident Relief Train from both Sambalpur direction and Khurda Road Direction have rushed to the spot. There are no casualties reported.

Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road has rushed to the site and reviewing the restoration and rerailment works. Prima facie cause of the derailment due to bank slip on box Bridge approach due to flash flood.

Box girder is intact. Retaining walls on both side have been damaged. Washout of track on approach to bridge on left side from Angul side.

Crane from Sambalpur will tackle wagons from Angul side and crane from Khurda Road will tackle engine and then wagons from Talcher side. Heavy water flow is still continuing near washout area. JCB has been mobilized to create diversion so as to reduce water flow for filling breach.

The stranded passengers are provided with snacks in ANGUL-TALCHER RAILWAY SECTION. Sambalpur Division has distributed snacks consisting Cake, Biscuits, drinking water & tea to the stranded passengers of Bikaner-Puri Special (1000 passengers) and in Durg-Puri Special trains (1400 passengers) at Sambalpur Station, this morning.
