University of Washington – Bothell Delegation Visits KIIT and KISS

Bhubaneswar, March 23: An 18-member delegation from the University of Washington-Bothell (UWB), currently on a 10-day visit to KIIT and KISS since March 19, toured various campuses of KIIT and different units of KISS. During their visit, they spent considerable time interacting with the students of KISS.

During their stay, 11 UWB students and 2 faculty members will collaborate with 11 students from KIIT School of Management (KSOM) on a Field Study Practicum. Also another 5 UWB faculty members will engage in knowledge exchange sessions across multiple schools at KIIT and KISS, delivering lectures and facilitating academic discussions.

This is for the first time that students from US are having academic engagements at KIIT. This visit marks a significant milestone in international academic collaboration.

The delegation also engaged in a special interactive session with KIIT and KISS Founder Achyuta Samanta. The session lasted for about an hour, during which they had extensive discussions on KIIT, KISS, and the contributions of Dr. Samanta, along with insightful conversations on Odisha’s education, arts, and culture.

The interactive session with Dr. Samanta was moderated by Professor Akhtar Badshah from the University of Washington. During the session, Dr. Samanta emphasized the transformative power of education in socio-economic development.

He said that developed nations owe their progress to education, while underdeveloped countries lag due to its inadequate education opportunities. He stated, “Poverty creates illiteracy. The moment a person becomes literate, their world changes.” Referring to education as the “third eye” of a child, he underscored its role in broadening perspectives.
