Vedanta Aluminium’s Mobile Health Services Reach More Than 50 Remote Villages Across Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Odisha; 7th July 2025: Vedanta Aluminum, India’s largest aluminium producer, has been providing quality healthcare services to more than 35,000 residents across 52 remote villages in Odisha through its flagship Mobile Health Unit (MHU) services. Operating in the districts of Rayagada, Kalahandi, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda, the company has conducted more than 2,000 free health camps over the last two years, addressing vital healthcare needs in underserved regions.

Focused on bridging healthcare gaps in rural Odisha, the MHU camps offer a range of free services, including medical check-ups, malaria screenings, blood sugar tests, and distribution of essential medicines. Each MHU is fully equipped with diagnostics kits and basic medicines, and staffed by a qualified doctor, nurse, lab technician, and pharmacist. In addition to addressing immediate healthcare needs, the initiative emphasizes preventive care through regular awareness sessions, contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
In Kalahandi’s Thuamul Rampur block, the initiative covers 21 villages. In the Kashipur block of Rayagada district, services extend to 14 villages. In Sundargarh district’s Hemgir block, communities across 11 villages benefit from regular health services. In Jharsuguda district’s Lakhanpur block, the outreach includes 6 villages. The health camps commonly address ailments like hypertension, gastric issues, fungal infections, anaemia, common cold, joint pain, respiratory infections, diabetes, and skin conditions such as scabies. Preventive awareness sessions are also a key part of the initiative, covering topics such as menstrual hygiene, breastfeeding, tobacco cessation, deworming, chronic disease management, and seasonal illness prevention.

By fulfilling the healthcare needs of the residents, they have taken a significant step towards creating a future that is healthier, making sure that every individual has access to basic medical care.”
