Jharsuguda,(Kaling Voice) : Vedanta, India’s largest producer of aluminium and value-added products, supports four schools of the Jharsuguda district through the Mo School Abhiyaan, an initiative by the Government of Odisha under its School & Mass Education Department. The company has contributed a sum of INR 80 lakhs to the revamping of government high schools including P.S. High School, Kolabira, C.D.B. Nodal High School, Parmanpur, B.D. High School, Baghmara and G.P. Nodal High School, Samasingha located in the Kolabira Block.
Stated high schools will be proffered with INR 20 lakhs each to build infrastructure to the level of having features like a smart classroom, e-library, ICT Lab, playing ground and garden etc. Additionally, as per the Mo School Abhiyaan framework, the contribution made by Vedanta will be matched, twice over, by the CSR Pool of the State Mo School AbhiyanParichalanaSangathan that will speed up the development of infrastructure at the schools.

- Vedanta Vidyarthi Vikas Yojana (VVVY) provides remedial coaching classes to strengthen the education standard of secondary school students residing in core villages.
- DAV Scholarship support Program for Project Affected Families offers financial assistance and scholarship support to the meritorious children to ensure the mainstreaming of children in the English Medium education system.
- Running in five Government-run schools of Jharsuguda city partnering district administration, Vedanta’s Mini Science Centres were facilitated through expertise roped in partnering STEM Learning Pvt. Ltd. intending to encourage scientific temper and learning in children of the schools.
- Vedanta’s Village Computer Literacy Program under which the company runs a basic computer literacy program in two government schools and also a certificate program for adolescent girls in the community is helping students learn 21st-century skills and bridge the digital divide.
Vedanta’s social interventions in the domains of quality education sustainable livelihood, women empowerment, health, water and sanitation, bio-investment and community infrastructure reach out to a total of 72 villages in Jharsuguda and nearby areas, benefiting nearly 80,000 people in a year.
