Bhubaneswar, 2nd Nov, 2023: Apollo Hospital Hematology Department organized a workshop on diagnosis and management of Thrombotic disorders under the aegis of herpetology. On 2nd Nov, 2023. The Diagnosis of these disorders is very important which affects people of all ages. Making proper diagnosis and giving appropriate treatment will save many lives particularly the young, said Dr. Dipika Mohanty, Sr. Consultant Hematology Department and Director of Laboratory Services, Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar. All the laboratory tests for making proper diagnosis is available in Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar. These tests are hardly available in few laboratories in odisha. Under one roof in Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar all the facilities are also available for this disorder for diagnosing and treating these cases. We are happy to hold this workshop and bring awareness among the medical fraternity of odisha, Dr. Mohanty added.
12 participants coming from different parts of India were part of the workshop.
The discussion was mainly on the diagnosis and management of cases of venous and arterial thrombosis. The proper collection of sample and the timing is important to get the correct results in the coagulation tests. The case presentation and management was also covered extensively. Specially the new entry APLA syndrome was discussed with the case presentation. There were two speakers Dr. Sukesh Nair, from CMC, Vellore and Dr. Dipika Mohanty. They discussed various nuances of thrombophilia. The workshop was inagurated jointly by the organizers and guests.
A hands on training was given in the coagulation laboratory to all the participants by Dr. Sreeya Das, Consultant, Haematology Department.
