World Environment Day celebrated at CSIR-IMMT

Bhubaneswar: CSIR- IMMT celebrated World Environment Day it its campus. The celebration started with plantation of saplings in the Children’s Park, BIER Hostel and Ladies Hostel.

Continuing with the celebration at the S S Bhatnagar Hall, all the students, researchers, scientists, staff members took the environment day pledge.

Inaugurating the celebration, Chief Guest Sri Prafulla Samantra, President Lok Shakti, Abhiyan & Environmental Activistssaid, Its my pleasure to be here among you all at this brainstorming  session on World Environment Day.  Because of globalwarming, these greenhouse gas effects are causing . How to mining , what to mining, researching, controlling everything is good, but  we should know how to use our real resources. Our motto is to educate students and also take our resources from useless things . Through this speech, my prime objective is to motivate more people regarding these waste issues. Our motto should be how to use the waste resources. Research is going on to bring more new technology and, of course, green technology.

Welcoming all the dignitaries,Dr Ramanuj Narayan, Director, CSIR-IMMT said, Speaking on this occasion, Dr Ramanuja said, great to see such enthusiasm among all for celebrating the World Environment Day and raising their concern on the same. Nowadays, plasticpollution is becoming an open challenge for all of you, but I never consider plastic as a source of pollution, it is a source of wealth generation and also a source of wealth creation. Only we have to remember our priority. So nothing is a source of pollution.”Human beings” are the greatest source of pollution and next time we will discuss humans as a source of pollution. Corona is a great example of how pollution hits them.

Speaking on this occasion,Dr. N K Dhal, HOD Environment & Sustainability department said, CSIR is such a great organisation where each and every industry is directly or indirectly supported by CSIR technology in their establishment, in their new achievements. Last time,Corona made us realize how important oxygen is, so we have to create our own impact in such a manner that tomorrow all industries should come and thank CSIR. CSIR is an Oxygen to our industry. Let us work for the betterment and welfare of our industry.”

Dr B D Nayak and Dr. P K Panda, Senior scientists of Environment & Sustainability department were felicitated on this occasion for their contribution towards society. Dr. Manish Kumar coordinated the felicitation programme

Mr Soubhagya Chandra Biswal, Founder & CEO, Ecolizer Ventures LLP. delivered a talk on Plastic Waste Management in Odisha and India.

Green Champion awards and prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions held between the staff, school scholars and Jigyasa.

Dr Sony Pandey thanked all the guests, dignitaries and participants for their participation in this celebration
